Study Late, Get Home Safe

April 4, 2010

A few days ago I posted about the convenience of MacEwan University’s 24-hour study space which is accessible to students during exam week (or “cram week,” as I call it). In that post, I forgot to mention that staying late at the downtown campus doesn’t have to be an unsafe venture, because Safe Walk is always available to you.

Safe Walk is sponsored by Student’s Union so it’s free for students and staff. Safe Walk will accompany you anywhere within 15 blocks of the City Centre Campus or MacEwan South Campus – to your car, the LRT or a bus stop.

Due to the sketchy nature of the late-night LRT service, Safe Walk can also ride the LRT with you and then walk you to your desired destinations within one blocks of the LRT station. This new service is available thanks to the cooperation of the Edmonton Transit System.

Safe Walk teams are available at CCC and ACC Monday to Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at MSC. If you need a walk, call our dispatch number (messages can be left at anytime) or drop by the Safe Walk kiosk located by security at the CCC, and by the SA office at MSC.

For more information on how to take advantage of Safe Walk visit their information page.

If I was to call Safe Walk I would request speed walking escorts. Remember: the faster you walk, the safer your late night commute.
